このプロジェクトの面白いところは、どんなアーティストでも参加できるということ。このプロジェクトにサインアップすると、何も描かれていないMoleskine の5.25" x 8.25" のスケッチブックが送られてきます。決まってるテーマのなかから自分の好きなものを選んで、ルールにそってそれぞれ思い思いのイラスト、メッセージ、切り抜き等を載せて仕上げます。
スケッチブックを見たい人は、まず、展示場で簡単に作ってくれるライブラリーカードを手に入れて、好きなテーマを選びます。すると、スタッフによってランダムに選ばれたスケッチブックを渡してもらえます。
アメリカの主要都市を展示して回るツアーが終わったら、またthe Brooklyn Art Library に戻ってきてPermanent Collection として見ることができるみたいです。
世界中のアーティスト達が描いたスケッチブックが、その人たちが会ったこともない人々の手に直接触れられ、見られるっていうのは、面白いプロジェクトです。こういうアイディアは色々な所で活かせそうな気がします！
Sketchbook Project, thousands of sketchbooks are being exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country. This project is unique because any artists around the world were able to attend. After you sign up to participate in this project, you receive a blank 5.25"x 8.25" Moleskine sketchbook. Each artist picks a theme to create a book.
After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be cataloged and available for the public to view.
If you want to read any of these sketchbooks, simply register at the participating locations (if you happen to be living near those locations) shown on their website. You can pick a theme you are interested in and a staff will give you a few sketchbooks randomly picked.
It is an great way to show your creativity to the people who you never met. They will be able to see and feel what you have created.
